Davies: A legend of the game
Laura Davies is hopeful of taking a step closer to the golf Hall of Fame with a victory in the Women's British Open at Hoylake.Davies has 81 professional titles to her name (including four majors), has spent time at world number one and has played in every Solheim Cup since its formation 1990.Despite this impressive list of achievements, Davies needs to win a fifth major or two more regular tour events to qualify for the Hall of Fame.Heading into her 100th major at this week's British Open, the Briton is determined to reach her goal of making it to the Hall of Fame."I've had about eight goes of winning this tournament to get in the Hall of Fame," she said."Who knows? This year might be the one - it would be the perfect place to do it."I've been playing well all year. Putting has been the biggest problem, but I putted nicely last week," added Davies, who finished joint runner-up in Austria."It would be nice if one of the home girls could win it and hopefully I'll be in the mix - it would just end such a great summer of sport for Great Britain."
