Fichardt carded a 65 that saw him go six under through the first eight holes, his cause being helped by a stunning eagle at the par-five third.
However, he dropped a shot just before the turn and although a run of three birdies from the 13th onwards put the 37-year-old from Pretoria in front, a bogey at the penultimate hole meant he had to settle for a share of the lead.
Van Zyl - who had been leading the tournament after an opening day that was hit by high winds - had just one blemish, at the 14th, in his score of 67.
Having played 28 holes on Friday, Brazilian Da Silva endured a terrible finish to his front nine, a triple bogey seven at the eighth being followed by a bogey at the next.
He did, though, bounce back with a birdie at the 10th before eight successive pars meant he signed for a 73, keeping him firmly in contention.
Bourdy's second successive 67 means he too will fancy his chances on Sunday, while Argentine Emiliano Grillo pushed himself right up the leaderboard with a stunning score of 64, leaving him alone on 11 under.
Jorge Campillo went one better than the South American, his 63 seeing him finish eagle-birdie-par-birdie. The Spaniard sits on 10 under alongside Chilean Mark Tullo (68) and Tjaart van der Walt of South Africa (68).
