Scott Brown: Won the Puerto Rico Open thanks to birdie on the final hole
Scott Brown made a birdie at the last hole to snatch a late victory at the Puerto Rico Open in Rio Grande.
The American was one shot behind playing partner Fabian Gomez heading into the final hole but Brown pounced as the Argentinian dropped a shot.
The lead had alternated between the two throughout most the round, with Brown picking up three shots in the first five holes before dropping three shortly afterwards.
That left Gomez one ahead, a lead he took into the final hole, where the two-shot swing saw him toppled from top spot.
Jordan Spieth was also in contention for the win after carding four birdies on the front nine but he eventually finished in a share of second with Gomez after five-under round of 67.
American duo Justin Bolli and Brian Stuard were tied for fourth place after shooting final rounds of 66 and 68 respectively at Trump International Golf Club.
Andres Romero and Peter Uihlein shared sixth place after they also went low in the last round, shooting respective scores of 66 and 67.
