Inbee Park: One shot leader in first women's major of season
Inbee Park shot a day's best round of 67 to move into a one-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
The Korean star birdied six of her first 13 holes and played steadily in the closing stages to assume top spot at the first women's major of the 2013 season.
Park made it briefly to seven-under with a third straight birdie at the 13th, but stumbled at the 14th to make her only bogey of the round before finishing with a run of pars.
Last season's LPGA money list and stroke average winner has moved up to No 4 in the world after a fine start to the season, but her form in this tournament has been nothing to write home about, only twice finishing better than a tie for 26th.
She said: "I think it's because of this golf course. It plays pretty tough for me. I never had a good two days. This is something new on this golf course for me and I don't know. It's good.
"Obviously, I putted really good out there, especially on the back nine. The wind picked up, so it was tough on the back nine."
American Lizette Salas is Park's nearest challenger on six-under with Sweden's Caroline Hedwall and Giulia Sergas of Italy one stroke further back.
Overnight leader Jodi Ewart Shadoff of England could not match her opening day heroics but stayed bang in contention with a level-par round of 72 that left her four-under alongside Korea's Hee Young Park and Pornanong Phatlum of Thailand.
