We are delighted to announce that the recent CHICKS Charity Day held at Trethorne Golf Club on Friday 21st June has raised a whopping £7,921 for the charity. This CHICKS Golf day has been held at Trethorne for the past 4 years and this is the most successful one so far.
CHICKS provide week long respite breaks for disadvantaged children from around the UK, who otherwise would not have a holiday or any break in that year. In 2012, CHICKS provided over 1,100 children with such breaks and the target for this year is 1,200. The children come from a variety of backgrounds, those living in poverty, children that are being neglected or abused, children who have lost parents or children who are full time carers themselves.
The money raised at this years golf event will pay for at minimum a 5 day break for 10 disadvantaged children. Mick Ryan, Community Fundraiser for CHICKS, and organiser of this event, deserves tremendous credit for the amount of time and effort that he puts into this event each year. Mick would also tell you he could not achieve this without fantastic support from Carole Reip at the Golf Club, and his many sponsors, including this year Glencore UK Ltd, East Devon IT and Hammond & Co. A great effort and congratulations to all concerned.
