The Trethorne Ladies Section has doubled in its numbers over past two years or so, and is a friendly, fun and relaxed group to be part of. The section has its own brand and identity and it is one of Trethorne's key objectives to continue to grow and develop the Ladies Club.
The Ladies meet on a regular basis for both competitions and matches, and also for more informal events such as the monthly Ladies Coffee Morning, which takes place on the second Wednesday of every month.
If you are new to the game or simply looking for a fresh start, the Ladies Club at Trethorne is the ideal place to pick up your clubs and a great way to meet new friends.
Mrs Yvette Wood
"For leagal reasons, and on the advice of Age Concern, I have decided to restrict my profile to golfing activities only!
I first started my golfing 'career' at thornbury Golf Club in South Gloucestershire some 12 years ago - this was not very serious or a regular activity.
It was when I moved to Cornwall that i first joined Trethorne Golf Club and had my first lesson with Mark Boundy. Sadly, the ladies section was small and there were few opportunities to play matches and I was restricted to playing each week with my husband and neighbour, which was very boring and not sufficiently challenging for me!
After a couple of years, I was encouraged by friends to join Hurdwick Golf Club, where at that time there existed an established ladies section and the opportunity to improve my golf in matches. In the fullness of time, I was asked to be Lady Captain and was delighted to accept.
In 2007, I rejoined Trethorne to take advantage of a more demanding golf course, by which time the ladies section had increased and there were good opportunities for matches, competitions and social events.
This year, i was honoured to be elected as Lady Captain and have every intention of building on the hard work and successes of previous captains and hope to see the ladies section increase in numbers. It is important to me that all the ladies enjoy a happy atmosphere both on and off the golf course".
Mrs Yvette Wood, Lady Captain 2010
